Volunteers are the lifeblood of a successful Auskick program
The activities that run each week at Hawthorn Auskick rely on parent helpers.
All parents and carers are expected to:
be in attendance for the entirety of each session every week
assist with the canteen and BBQ when rostered
support and encourage participants, coaches and organisers.
Canteen and BBQ Roster
The canteen and BBQ run by the centre are an important part of the Auskick experience.
Every family will be rostered on to help for one morning each season. Twelve helpers will be assigned to assist with the canteen and BBQ each week. Mornings are divided into two shifts (8:30am-9:45am or 9:45am-11.30am) and various tasks will be assigned by the registrar.
Responsibilities for the early shift (8:30am-9:45am) include:
checking the ground for hazards (glass, dog poo) before the kids arrive
setting up the BBQ and canteen
opening and cleaning the portable toilets
setting up the PA, sponsors tent and banners
cooking and preparing the sausages and bread
cooking and selling food in the canteen
cutting the oranges and delivering.
Responsibilities for the later shift (9:45am-11:30am) include:
serving sausages and drinks
cleaning and packing up the BBQ and canteen
cleaning and closing the portable toilets
packing away the PA, sponsors tent and banners.
Coaching
Volunteer coaches are vital to the success of Auskick. To ensure all Auskickers get the most out of each session, the ideal coach/child ratio is 1:6. In order to meet this target, coaches for all age groups need as many parent helpers as possible.
If you would like to volunteer as a coach, please complete the form on our contact page. No prior coaching experience is required and the centre will cover the cost of an accredited AFL coaching course for all volunteer coaches.
Committee
If you would like to serve on the committee please contact the president or a committee member, either in person or through the contact page on this website.
